Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 17 September 2026 · Applies to the Havnest Money app and havnestmoney.com

The short version Havnest Money is a tool to organize and understand your own household's finances — it doesn't hold your money, move it, or give you financial advice. Use it responsibly, keep your Recovery Key safe (we can't recover your data without it), and understand that our responsibility for anything that goes wrong is limited, the way it legally has to be for a tool like this. You can end your subscription, and delete all your household and personal data you have shared with us, whenever you want.

1. Who this agreement is between

This is an agreement between you and Péter Gulyás, a private individual operating Havnest Money (see our Privacy Policy for full contact and controller details — if a company is formed to operate Havnest Money in the future, this section will be updated to reflect it).

If you're the admin of a household, creating accounts for other adults or setting up a child profile, you're accepting these terms on behalf of your whole household, including anyone you add to it. If you create a child profile, you're confirming you have the parental or guardian authority to do so, and that you're responsible for that child's use of the app.

2. What Havnest Money is — and isn't

Havnest Money is a personal and household financial organizing tool. You enter your own transactions (or import them from a file), add your accounts, and budgets, and the app helps you track, categorize, forecast, and understand your finances.

Havnest Money is not a bank, a payment service, an investment platform, or a licensed financial, tax, or investment advisor. It does not hold your money, move it, or initiate any payment on your behalf. Every figure you see — a balance, a forecast, a budget status — is derived entirely from data you or your household entered or imported; it doesn't come from a live connection to your actual bank account, and it isn't a substitute for checking your real accounts, your real bills, or your own professional advisors before making a financial decision.

If you optionally connect a Foliopal investment tracker account, the balances shown inside Havnest Money are pulled from Foliopal on your behalf, at your request — Havnest Money doesn't independently verify or guarantee their accuracy.

3. Creating an account

You need to be capable of entering a binding agreement to create a Havnest Money account. A household's first (founding) member creates the household, and becomes the first admin automatically; an admin of that household can then invite other adults, and can create simplified Child Mode profiles for children in the household, subject to §1 above.

4. Subscription & billing

Havnest Money is free to use during its early access period — see our pricing page for the current, exact terms. If and when we introduce paid subscriptions, we'll give existing users advance notice, and anyone who joined during the early access period keeps a founding-member rate, permanently lower than what new households will pay from that point on.

Once paid subscriptions are available, billing will be handled entirely through the App Store, under Apple's own terms — subscriptions, auto-renewal, cancellation, and refunds are all managed through your Apple ID, the same as any other subscription app. We never see or store your payment card details.

5. Acceptable use

Use Havnest Money for its intended purpose — organizing and understanding your own household's real financial information. You agree not to:

6. Your content, and your Recovery Key

You own the data you enter into Havnest Money. The sensitive financial content of that data — amounts, notes, account and category names, and more — is encrypted on your own device, and only your household's Recovery Key can unlock it. See our Privacy Policy for the full technical explanation.

This means that an important responsibility falls on you: storing and safeguarding your Recovery Key. We never store your Recovery Key on our servers, and no device can ever show it to you again once your own saved copy is lost — it isn't kept anywhere to look up, not by you and not by us. Your Recovery Key is only ever asked for when a device first joins your household, when you sign back in after signing out, or when restoring a backup file — so it's easy to forget it exists, which is exactly why losing it is so serious. Without your Recovery Key, you can't sign in on a new device or restore a backup. Your devices that are already signed in will keep working, and while at least one of them is, you can still export a readable copy of your data from Settings — but once every one of them has been signed out, reset, lost, or replaced, your household's data becomes permanently unreadable, to you and to us. We'll remind your household's admins every few months to check that the key is still kept safe. Save it somewhere durable and safe, the moment it's generated. Make use of the PDF download option, which is available to you when your household Recovery Key is generated at first sign-up. Save that PDF, which contains your Recovery Key, or print it out and store it somewhere safe.

7. No warranty; not advice

Havnest Money is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We work hard to make it accurate and reliable, but we don't guarantee that every figure, forecast, or calculation is free of errors, or that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free at all times.

Nothing in the app constitutes financial, tax, investment, or legal advice. You're responsible for independently verifying anything important before relying on it — a budget projection, a retirement forecast, or a balance shown in the app — especially before making a real financial decision based on it.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of Havnest Money is limited to the amount you've actually paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose — which, during any free period (including early access), is zero. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, including lost income, lost data you failed to back up, or a financial decision made in reliance on the app.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law — including liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or fraud, or any statutory consumer right that can't be waived by agreement. Where a Hungarian or EU consumer-protection rule gives you a right this document doesn't mention, that right still applies.

9. Ending your account

You can delete your entire household and all its data at any time, directly from within the app — an immediate, self-service action, available to any household admin, requiring no separate request to us. Once confirmed, this is permanent and cannot be undone, by you or by us.

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates §5 above, or that we reasonably believe poses a risk to Havnest Money, other users, or the security of the service.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions as Havnest Money changes. When we make a material change, we'll update the "Last updated" date above, and the app will ask every household member to review and re-accept the current version the next time they log into the app.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Hungary. If you're a consumer resident in the EU, nothing here removes any mandatory protection you're entitled to under the law of your own country of residence — where there's a conflict, your local mandatory consumer rights take precedence.

12. Apple's own terms

Havnest Money is distributed through Apple's App Store, and your use of the app is also subject to Apple's own Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA," which applies automatically to any app that doesn't provide its own — Havnest Money doesn't). Apple's EULA governs your license to use the software itself; these Terms & Conditions govern your relationship with us as the service provider — your account, your household's data, and your subscription.
